HEY FAMILIA ELDER PETE!

So, it sounds like you all can't handle Lake Powell with out me! You lost the trailer! HAHA that is so crazy! I am glad you didn't damage the boat! But we better cash it in and get a MALIBU right!

MON-
P-day it was alot of fun. The whole zone came down and it was so much fun we played ball and dodge ball and it was a blast. Elder Bradshaw's little brother got his mission call to Arkansas, so crazy! I learned the cool convincing ways of Mosiah to convince people it was super cool! Kelsi sent me a cool email! I didn't get anything from you all it was kinda depressing!

Tues-
Went on an exchange with the Zone leaders, it was way cool, Elder Darais, he went to Box Elder! We were at this campus and this Asian leader ate crap, like she tripped so hard, we helped her out but she still wasn't interested, it was lame but we were Christ like! We had a lesson with Angela, the mom of the girl I interviewed for baptism, it was neat and she was crying and felt the spirit it was really neat! We had dinner with this family and they had a VITA MIX, I was like, what the KJ, it was super funny. I loved it to death! We had a really neat lesson on the Plan of Salvation. I hadn't taught that lesson forever but these people are ready for baptism!

WED-
Last day in my journal, I need you all to send me anouther journal like the one Kenz and Tarha gave me! District meeting was my best ever. I was so proud of myself! I got a new tie rack! President called after district meeting and was like guess what, Elder Worthen you are leaving, and Elder Petersen, you are training. I was so nervous and was freaking out, I really didn't see it coming! Then he called again and was said, Sister Cotterell thought I should call you again and tell you to rememebr who your trainer was! It was kinda scary they are expecting alot out of me I guess! We went out with Spenccer and had a good day and taught a couple lessons it was a good day over all!

Thurs-
Drama as a District leader, one of the companionships in the district got in a fight we had to settle it out it was funny and crazy! Our dinner canceled and I wrecked hard core on my bike trying to take an action photo of me and Elder Worthen, but I saved the camera! There are pictures of me falling it is funny I hope you enjoy them! Send that triathlon picture to Kelsi!

Fri-
We had a zl dl counsel, I got to say the opening prayer. It was a conference call. It was funny! The mission is changing a lot, like zone conference and interviews are now quarterly. Oh and Dad, do you know the Elder in Idaho Falls, ask them if they know an Elder Stanfield! The campus is dead, like I could of ran naked through there, it is a ghost town! Lexi sent me a letter, so Breylan and Ozzie are engaged that is messed up. What is going, on it is crazy, I guess DOLLS doesn't have to worry now! We had a great lesson with Chris Edwards, a recent convert and he was loving it like we are planting seeds baby, this is so awesome it was so neat to see him get excited about missionary work, we tracted into a family and taught a lesson and found 5 new investigators but they aren't in our ward!

Sat-
Pioneer day, for the pioneer breakfast I poured juice for the whole stake, in 115 degree weather. I almost died, it was fun though, I met a lot of cool people! We had a dinner with some sisters in the ward it was so good and Scott is the man, he came with us. He played racquet ball for BYU he is th man! The girl we had dinner with her dad drove Ludacris to a concert, crazy huh!

Sun-
Church was crazy, so in Elders Quorum there was a visitor there and the teacher and the visitor got in a fight, he told the teacher to end the lesson cause he didn't have the spirit with him and it was insane! We had dinner with some sweet members and then moved and cleaned a little bit, it was crazy! It was a good week the Gospel is still TRUE!! I didn't get a letter from you all, it was lame, but I still love you and tell Kelsi happy b-day and that I love her! I am so nervous to train, pray for me! I hope you all have a great week!

Love and Respect,

Elder Taylor Blaine Petersen
Dear Family,
I don't even want to write you all because you won't get it forever, and you are AT POWELL,

Mon-
My work out this morning was changing a tire for a man from Kenya. He was a nice guy a student who met with missionaries in Kenya! We aren't aloud to use our car on p-day so we biked to the borders of the other Elders area and hung out with them, went to Cici's and ate some pizza and went to the apple store. We realized it was apostate, so we went and played ultimate frisbee! We had dinner with the 2 girls in our ward that are farmers, they were late and we missed our appointment, rough start for the week! BUT ALL IS WELL IN ZION!

Tues-
We had district meeting. It was better, I hope. We had interviews, President Cotterell told me that there are a lot of opportunities here for baptisms with 30,000students looking for their own identity, taken out of the faith of their fathers! But right now it is a ghost town! We had a real powerful lesson with a less active and then we raced back home in a crazy storm, it was raining cats and dogs!

WED-
Dolls got a new president with the same last name as him! We biked 35 miles to Talecris so Elder Worthen could talk to the people who make his medicine it was neat and we might of found service opportunity. We met this family on campus from Jacksonville Florida, whose daughter was coming to school here they are members and told us how her husband is a convert from elders contacting him on the campus and to never pass anybody up! It was way cool! We had dinner with Jannette Smoot she is from Ucon, really nice sister in the ward! We saw some members and set up a dinner with them SCORE! Had a lesson with that giant UNC wrestler we found. He was hitting up the peace pipe, Elder Worthen was freaking out but we taught him it was all good!

Thurs-
Weekly planning, and I had my first baptismal interview that was way cool. I loved it and I was able to find her worthy to be baptised! We went to Durham to work the Duke campus we set 2 appointments and stayed with the Durham first Elders in the district it was good to work that area! Duke students are smart!

Fri-
(this is the title of my journal) "Friday ha ha fam peaced out to Lake Powell! How lame, and I am here in miserable heat sweating so much with no lake to jump into! No wave runner to roll! No cliff to fly off of! MAN LIFE IS GOOD" I dyed in the Durham heat we had a good day went on an exchange with some Duke student, he was the man and super smart. Elder Christensen made me a samonian sandwhich it was pretty good!

Sat-
Moved this girl Emi who is now engaged, WO WO!!! She is not in our ward, she is married, we no longer have to deal with her! We contacted on the campus, it was good. We had dinner with a family from Tetonia, it was cool, we went with the Elders in the 1st Ward, then went to the baptism of Brooke, it was cool!

Sun-
I kissed butt at church all day and was able to get an exchange and dinner for the whole week, I was so proud of myself! We had dinner with some cool single girls in our ward, I gave one of them a blessing, she was worried about her exam. We went out with Jorrel, this cool kid who served in Honduras, it was sweet. I really enjoyed some normal company like not some old people who can't get married but some young people my age. The gospel is still true. I love you all send me pics from Lake Powell, also Elder Worthen is the kid in the maroon shirt!

Familia,

What is going on! How is life in IF TOWN, how about Lake Powell?

TUES-
So we got in the bus this morning to go to the campus. When we got off there was this guy who I thought was a member in the married ward. BUT HE WASN'T! I was like; "yeah Jeff just going to email our families," and he was like do you wanna call them and I was like come on Jeff you know we can't, then Elder Worthen was like what are you doing that is the guy we dropped a Book of Mormon off to and we are going back to follow up on his reading, it was funny and super crazy! We met this kid, Akib who is from Iraq, like he was saved, he loves soccer and we teach him on the bus every time we see him, it is amazing, he is 15! We went to see this girl Tatiana! Her mom is not a member but should be, she said she was going to email you a picture. It was cool we had a lesson with her mom, Tatiana is a convert and just got back from her mission in Chile! Pretty cool night we went out with Scott he is from Iowa served in Guam and went to BYU!

WED-
District meeting, Whoot Whoot-- they are getting better each time, at least I hope!!! This week was on the restoration, it is hard to teach Elders who have been out longer and know way more then you! I always Prepare way to much and then don't even get through half of it. Went on an exchange with Elder Christensen, this convert lady was like Kelsi in an old age, she divorced her husband cause he would'nt convert. I ate flax seed crackers with that cheese stuff Kelsi's mom spreads on it and it was funny, we talked about eating raw and such and yeah it was crazy! We had dinner with this guy that is going to Duke Law, he knows mom, his cousin is Justin McFarland he is a Bratsman! They had a perfect family like it was incredible there kids knew so much about the gospel like it was a picture perfect family!

Thurs-
I let myself down, I haven't been being the missionary I hoped to be! And then I got a letter from Mom and Elder Dealba! I got Mom's delayed letter that talked about me being like a leader and not trying to be cool just do what's right and Elder Dealba just sent me a picture with me and Elder Croft on DEC 29Th the first day in Smithfield and on the back it said the best of the best and it really was an awakening, and I quit trying to be the cool leader, but the example I knew the rules and I feel so much better we have had such an amazing week and that is why your letter was delayed it probably wouldn't of met anything if I didn't get it when I did. I had a cool talk with Elder Cox about finishing strong and his numbers this week reflected it!

FRI-
Studied about charity and myself and Elder Worthen tried to look at people as God sees them, it was so neat we had such a greater love to talk to these people and still loved them after they rejected us! I got 2 packages and 1 letter I got cookies from Kelsi and I also got my LDS puzzle! We were able to commit somebody to come to church we just knocked on their door and like his mom didn't speak English and he said his mom said he needs to listen to us and go to Church with us! Then we talked to this guy named Ron, who I learned so much from him about leadership and listening skills and then like we were talking to him and he just disappeared, no joke, I think he might of been one of the missing Nephites! Idk,it was a miracle I took notes in my planner! Then this 11 year old boy walks up and was like ya'll Mormons and we're like yeah and he was like my family loves your church but then you guys just stopped coming to teach us and boom baby were back in! MIRACLES

SAT-
We went and moved with Scott, he is the man. We came back and planned, went and got some clothes at the dry cleaners and went to go see La2 the one we committed to church and then he wasn't there. We left our phone home so we went back at 9 and we had 2 missed calls from him, and then we called him back 3 times, no answer and I was like poo, he isn't coming to church. But I have been trying really hard lately to be a strong leader and just trust in the Lord, so no fear, so I was like Elder Worthen, lets go pray for La2 to answer our calls and in the middle of the prayer, boom he answered and we invited him and he said his friend wants to come too and it was such a spiritual experience! We thanked our Father in Heaven after, of course!

SUN-
ELDER WORTHEN, 4 months out had his 1st investigators at church and not just that we snapped the curse and we had 3, another guy we taught this week showed up! HAPPY B-DAY KENZ! Then we went out tracting after church! (it is weird how work keeps you SANE and happy) Then we were walking home and I didn't see this monster behind this sign and Elder Worthen stops him, and I look back and it is David and Goliath, I run back to save Elder Worthen, and this guy is like perfect. He was like all these churches claim to be the ONE but all they have is the Bible, just like everyone else who claims to be the one! He is a national champion wrestler and a heavy weight his name is Z and he asked us to share with him about the Book of Mormon! CRAZY! MIRACLES!!! Life is good. Then we had dinner with the Brixus, there son is the ward mission leader. He is leaving for Nebraska to become a paramedic, they are from Denton, TX that is where they found the church there conversion story is amazing! They asked me to ask you if you know Bobby or Debbie Aldrich or something? They moved from Denton to Plano and are big in the church! I love conversion stories and meeting with members. It recharges the batteries! I love you guys thanks for your prayers they have helped so much! I miss you guys and love you so much and can't wait till I return home!

Love,

Elder Taylor Petersen

July 6th Pictures

A new definition of "Tracting"

oops.... Blowout - Time to for a sewing lesson

Taylor got a new bread maker...He is becoming Domestic

Nothing like a small bowl of Jello....
I can't believe I ate the whole thing

Time to eat the freshly baked bread!!!
Hey Family,
Thanks so much for ordering those items, the journal I want, Elder Worthen has it. It is way sweet. I think I gave you the info on it! And thanks for making the Love of my life spend time with you all! Are you all going to Powell?

Mon-
Nature has been a real safety for me lately, and boosting me up, for family home evening we went on a hike. It was really good we were able to take some good pictures and it was really neat. Thanks so much for the amazing Email; Dad, Monica, Steve, and Sam and KJ!! They like boosted and pumped me up so much and I realized that a positive attitude was my only way out of this.

Tues-
I like cried through my study today reading Dad and Monica and KJ's letters they were awesome and Steve's part made me laugh, HE IS THE MAN! This morning we biked to the SEC-U house to be interviewed to volunteer their. Met this really nice guy from Florida who is way into road biking he said he will set me up after my mission, I want to get into marathons and triathlons after my mission, and try to stay fit I love biking too! We came back and did some organization for the area it was good because the Elder that was here took everything he knew with him and didn't write anything down so we are fixing it all up! We went tracting and the spirit lead me to go to this road, where we have a less active, she had moved but we were suppose to be there for other reasons, to meet Kathleen a 90 year old woman from Australia who we taught. She hugged and kissed us it was crazy but good and she told us she loves how Mormons are so happy and she wants to be happy, she isn't in our ward, but we will teach her one more time to see if she is serious. But she just said the nicest things to us and how she appreciates our love for the Father! IT was so neat, and boost my spirits, a tender mercy of the Lord. We knocked into this girl Andrea, she is from Jackson Hole and has a road bike just like Kelsi's it is a Ruby, I showed her my post card from Jenny Lake, she was like, that is my back yard she was way cool we taught her a little bit, but had to drop her this week cause she was interested in more then the gospel. Then we about got murdered by this German Shepard. It is the dog of the Columbian guy who swore at me on Fathers Day, he hates our guts!

WED-
District meeting was good, I feel it was better then my 1st, so I will just keep on improving! It sucks people in the city are so busy, even those that are interested still don't have time to listen! City Folks don't like PETE. We helped this recent convert move and she gave us a copy of her testimony she posted on face book, because everyone has been giving her crap, it was so neat I was so thankful for it. It boosted my spirit as well. Then we went tracting again and this Asian man in broken English said you are good boys, you work really hard. I appreciate it and we have a book of Mormon in Chinese for him! SO COOL, another tender mercy of the Lord

Thurs-
My journal says: wow 1st day of July, didn't think I would make it this long on my mission. I flipped the page in the calendar. Kelsi is so nice for making that awesome calendar for me, I got a package from Kelsi and from Elder Jario Jose Dealba, he is the man I miss that kid so much. We went to Durham and at the bus station there is this guy reading the Ensign and I was like, WHAT!! and then he has this tat of the marijuana leaf on his calf and I was like, WHAT!! I went and sat by him and he is investigating the church, we talked for a half hour and it was so neat he was so excited to see us!! That was a tender mercy of the Lord, I am so appreciative of them all, but they aren't helping me in Durham 3rd but we must press forward! Elder Christensen from Burley made us spaghetti and pancakes, he is the man and is such a nice kid, his companion in the mtc was Elder Morrell. We found 2 new investigators that would be in our ward; two young girls going to dental school TENDER MERCY FOR OUR WARD! It was a great lesson. We finished moving our recent convert Rachel and then set a return appointment with her boyfriend, BOOM ANOTHER ONE! The singles ward kills me, I just wanna get married man! That is what everything is focused on, they tie paying your tithing into marriage, it kills me to see everyone all over each other during sacrament meeting!

FRI-
Bro. Newburn in the Chapel Hill first ward served his mission in IF TOWN in the Lincoln Stake and served at Ricks campus he is the man! He is going back for a wedding soon! We ate at China 35. I got so sick! So we biked 35 miles today and finally found this less active family and boom we were able to set a return appointment with these 2 sisters, who they are trying to bring back to activity and they came to church this Sunday. It went just like I planned it, it was so perfect and I am finally getting things rolling, but first I had to humble myself. I had no water and was so thirsty so I pulled up to this apartment and turned on the hose the lady ran out yelling at me and I had to take off running she had her broom! It was so funny.... but I didn't die. It is sad, we go into a house and there is porn everywhere, everyone here looks at porn, it KILLS ME!

SAT-
This kid Antoni is the man, he asked a bunch of sincere questions. We taught him and we are teaching him again today, he was like my church isn't teaching it all, I know it isn't and then he goes is it all even here on the earth, and how can I know he is the man? He is pretrty young though, so we will see if he is 18 or 17. I hope he is in our ward, we got a bread machine and we have fresh bread and cinnamon rolls but they aren't as good as yours Mom! So hook me up please, we had a lesson with Rachel's boyfriend it went good he has had a hard life and was born in a concentration camp but we are excited to work with him and it is firing up his girlfriend RACHEL.

SUN-
How were the Fireworks? Did you miss me, at least I have stayed out of trouble now 2 years in a row. The Fireworks in Chapel Hill sounded pretty cool! So, there is this girl in our ward, Brooke Parkinson, she served with Devon Pincock they were in the same district, it was so funny to meet her! There are these 2 girls from Utah who are intern shipping on a farm they are so cool but on fast Sunday they have what is called break the fast and it is a big pot luck, one of the girls who is on the farm I told her mom how you make me those cinnamon rolls from pie crust, the little ones, and she surprised me and made them for me. That was a bonus and way nice of her! Met this girl in our ward, who her dad was the mission president in Switzerland, I really think that would be the greatest calling of all in the church! It was a good day and I had a good talk with Elder Worthen that night, trying to loosen this kid up, he stresses about the things he can't control! I love you all and have a good week!

Love and Respect,

Elder Taylor Petersen

MON-
1st p-day in happy chappy. We played soccer on the turf field at UNV. Went on an exchange with this guy named Charlie, he served in Russia, a way cool kid, we had family home evening with the ward and met the grand father of the ward, this guy who has been here for 7 years he told us all about it.

Tues-
We had a cool lesson with a guy named Julian.

Wed-
My first district meeting, it went good. I was complimented alot, and it was neat. The spirit was strong. I was reviewing my journal for what to write for today and it was this huge thing saying I wanna go boating. I went on an exchange to Durham (aka dirty d) it was a blast I love the ghetto and families.

Thurs-
Happy B-day DJ, I love you!! Had a cool lesson with a guy named David. College kids just don't commit. I struggle with the lack of a belief in God at the campus! But Elder Worthen (that is his companion)took me on a walk through the botanical garden and I just thought to myself, how could you deny God, I am so thankful for a great mission companion

Fri-
What does (World Sciences and people) mean? Persecution makes you stronger. I love the GOSPEL THOUGH!!!! Miracle a nice lady asked us what makes you different then all other questions, and boom we were in! FUNNY how we spend alot of time telling people we are the same as Christians.

Sat-
Spencer a kid from Caldwell, went with me on splits, had an amazing lesson with this guy named Dalw Ans, then boom he asked me to take off my shirt so he could give me a ultrasound, it was weird, never thought I would take my shirt off in a lesson.

Sun-
Church was good, it was kinda stressful, everything is about marriage and college, I was worried, but another miracle; a lady who is a recent convert her boyfriend who everyone thought wasn't interested or sadly enough they just didn't ask him; I invited him to take the missionary lessons and we are helping them move on Thursday and having dinner with them on Saturday, we went home teaching with this guy who is looking for marriage proposal ideas; man single wards are crazy!!! I love you all and I love this gospel. Hey mom could you look for me online for a toscana journal? It is a way nice journal that I want to keep my district meetings and different meetings in, if you can find one that would be great. I love you all thanks for your thoughts prayers and inspiration!

Love and Respect
