FAMILIA Ahhh, Just when I thought this GOSPEL couldn't get any truer!

Mon-
Wow!! So crazy that one year ago Brycen died. He was seriously the man. Like I am not just saying that. And I think since I have been on a mission I have realized that I learned alot from him! Like he loved everyone. He gave everyone a fair shot. He really strived to bring that light out in everyone! He was a true Christian! We saw Kole on campus and talked to him for awhile! We saw Warren also the kid who was taught by Elders in Korea and we are supposed to meet with him asap! At FHE there is this guy who was from Ucon! He wasn't very nice like most IDAHOANS, but it is okay forgive and forget!
Tues-
I contacted this guy who looked like the last avatar air bender thing it was so funny. A member gave a giant roast so we went up to the institute and had a big feast up there with a bunch of missionary's! I went on exchanges with Elder Smart to Durham 1st the investigator we went to teach went off about her incest story and was crying and then I got her to calm down and told her how the gospel could bless her life and she was like God doesn't care! So then I was like well my mom used to tell me that I better never ever make a girl cry because Heavenly Father counts there tears! And she ran up and hugged me and it was crazy and I was like I have never felt that good in so long we had to leave right after that it was a little weird! Met this cool Lady from Africa named Beauty who gave this super cool hand shake it was intense! We went and had dinner at a Mexican restaurant it was good we saw Blake and his mom there it was crazy! We got in that night and Elder Smart lost his wallet and it was crazy, I think he was swearing under his breathe, I asked him to say a prayer but he wouldn't so I said I would say it for him. We went to the Mexican restaurant and a business card was laying on there saying looking for a wallet call this number! It was cool!
Wed-
That morning we went to get the wallet, it was such a blessing that he found it! It was crazy thinking about how powerful Satan is, his Temple Recommend was in there, I guess he didn't want him to go! He is powerful! The Temple was incredible the spirit there is awesome! The Ensign this week was cool on the temple! The MANTI is the most BEAUTIFUL! I won't wreck the tradition! I am a PETERSEN through and through! I read my patriarchal blessing in the Celestial room that was way NEAT! We had a lesson with Lauren it was incredible! Like the exchanges with us were on fire! The members in this ward are so amazing there testimony's blow my mind and how in tune with the spirit they are! More then me and Elder Miller they always say the right thing at the right time! Like it used to be when you had an exchange it was some high priest that we would have to cut off, that was going into deep doctrine but the exchanges in D3 are incredible! We let them take over! Blake's mom put our name into the temple that was very nice of her, all of our members homes are getting broken into it is weird maybe a conspiracy!
Thurs-
We taught Kole the Plan of Salvation, Zach was there and he is the man it was all making sense to him then at that end he started going off about if we have the bible we all have authority! It is crazy we don't know what to do with him! He is the man, I love him so much and I know more then anything else that this gospel could bless his life! We taught Gabrielle that night and once again we had a brother and a sister in the ward on exchanges it was incredible there testimonies blow my mind like they are able to say things and it means so much more coming from them! MEMBERS ARE KEY! They are all so willing to, we just have to invite them and they commit! That is what the gospel is all about INVITING THEM!
Fri-
Interviews with the big man! I love President he is so humble and is just the man! He told me my time in Durham third is coming to an end! It was sad I won't lie! It was really good. District meeting was good, that is cool Sister Cotterell emailed you! It is true what they say the mission presidents wife makes the mission president, she is incredible and has a sincere testimony! We ran up to meet Warren that guy from Korea and he was up there, we were playing ping pong talking about the church and he was like talking to some rm from Korea and was like yeah I got baptized in Korea cause the missionary's told me I would get half off at BYU, it was so sad. And then he was like 6 months later I was baptized into the baptist church! It was really sad cause our potential investigator ended up being a less active but it is good we are going to teach him again and help him understand it all! We had an incredible lesson with Tara once again our 2 exchanges, oh my gosh it blows my mind! They were on fire and she said she would pray about baptism and come to us with a date! It was awesome, the spirit was working through Tara she was answering questions! Questions are KEY! The worst thing a missionary could do is teach!
Sat-
Biking extravaganza! Tell Kelsi she better get her ruby back in Rexburg, cause we BIKE ALOT! We went to help our bishop move a table he is the man! Like we biked 50 miles it felt like and only set one return appointment it was a little sad! But we went to the institute the Elders put on a dinner for the Relief Society and Tara was like Elders, I need to talk to you and she said she prayed and is getting baptized on 0ct 16th no matter what! It was so cool she was so excited she had set her mom up with the link to watch the broadcast! BSU WON!
Sun-
Tara is amazing she is going to do incredible things in the gospel! We had 6 people at church! The restored Gospel is incredible! Gospel principles was weird they were teaching from this different bible and it was crazy like the deepest class I have ever been in! We went tracting in the pouring rain! I think when you are smiling and waving to people when you are walking into the pouring rain people either think we are sick! Or the plan of salvation must really work!
I love this gospel family it is incredible and so true, I love this gospel and to represent the Savior!

(This email is dated Wednesday September 22, 2010 because he went to the temple on his normal P-Day, so he had to wait till Wednesday to email us.)
P-day-
we went to the intermural fields and played a pick up game of soccer! I am terrible but I love that sport and it has gotten so much fun to play while on my mission! Some of the guys we were playing with were way good and super intense. I got my email from Kelsi and she talked about BYU-I and how the spirit is so strong there. And that they rely on it to teach us the truth. And they pray and the spirit bore a super strong witness to me that BYU-I is where I need to attend! Like Savannah, Chayden and alot of people attended there and nobody told me that it was like the Book of Mormon and your text book! So cool, I must be a part of that! So we were waiting to go to dinner with some ward members and this kid came up and said are you all from Utah and I was like no, I am from a better place, IDAHO. Just kidding, I was like no but Elder Miller is and the guy said, I went to BYU for a year to learn English and it was super cool and he met with missionaries in Korea and we are teaching him this FRIDAY! I'd like to dedicate this line to COACH OWENS, "EXPECT to BAPTIZE, PREPARE to BAPTIZE, BELIEVE you'll BAPTIZE and that is how miracles are WROUGHT!
TUES-
In my study today I was reading in 1 Nephi 13 and it gives a perfect description of why we need the Book of Mormon, and then you turn to 2 Nephi 29 8-10 and it gives a perfect description of why we need the Book of Mormon, it is a testimony of GOD and who he is! At the campus today we had a crazy contacting session, we had ten pamphlets and passed them out and taught out of them and invited people to read out of them it was neat to be a part of! I made a really nice lunch for Elder Miller, he is the man! We had a great dinner and talked about her friend who is meeting with the missionaries! But I forgot there friends name in a prayer that was bad! I got a letter form DJ! Gotta feel the spirit of Ricks!
WED-
Elder Miller Broke down all the dispensations and it was crazy he is the man he found all these prophets that saw god! We had district meeting and we met Ann Gallion this girl who is from Idaho Falls and she was way cool she isn't LDS but maybe someday! We went to go see a potential and saw this girl named Bambi who is searching and it is incredible! We went and gardened at a community garden, it was awesome we had some good conversation with people it was awesome! Then we taught this guy named Eric it was weird he was Asian and knew nothing about God like nothing about faith it was weird starting at ground zero I have never had to do that before, he never heard the word faith.
THURS-
I have always been a weird kid I think, and I try to be normal in public and carry myself as a Rep of Jesus Christ, but sometimes I snap and go super weird in the apartment! We taught Tara it was awesome We went to Chubby's taco with a member it was way good We gave a memeber a blessing it was neat!
FRI-IT was a good day we taught a few people and we biked to go get ice cream I have never taught anybody here on a Friday night.
SAT-
we went to Durham and helped out Blake's mom she shared with us alot and it is crazy but I hope we can help them out with this gospel we contacted on campus and it was crazy!
SUN- We had some amazing people at church it was good! We had dinner with our ward missionary leaders parents sorry this is short, I gotta go to dinner!

Hey Family this week was once again incredible! When I start to think I have missionary work figured out, I am humbled and found on my knees pleading with my Father in Heaven and it all works out and this is his work and that it must be done his way!
So on p-day we went and played ultimate Frisbee, it was awesome but the Lord still uses us on p-day. We went to have some trifle with this guy we were playing ultimate Frisbee with. His wife is a convert and told us her conversion story and her and Gabrielle are like in the exact same boat, their stories are the same. So we invited her to come to our lesson with Gabbrielle and she said that she would and it was just crazy to see the work of the Lord. The Standard of Truth has been erected and nothing will stop it not even P-DAY!
We went tracting that evening because our ward for FHE had a pool party and we weren't welcome! We taught these 3 girls and one of them was like, I don't believe in God but she was asking the most sincere questions and it was crazy, like to comprehend the plan of the Lord, FHE planned swimming so that we wouldn't go to FHE so that we would go tracting to teach these girls the restored truth it is incredible! Remember the one girl that doesn't believe in God, because he believes in her and loves her alot and yeah the plan of the Lord BLOWS MY MIND!!!!
Transfers were today and we got a new zone leader he is a MINICO SPARTAN fresh from Rupert, ID he isn't fresh he is old but he is Elder Pierre-Louis from Idaho by way of the Bahamas, he is the man! Gabrielle invited us and swiped us in for lunch at her cafeteria thing. It was really neat, she is a neat girl! I know this gospel can bless her life we had some good convo at lunch, she has a tough problem, her mom isn't for the church and has been through the temple and told her that if she was to be baptised that is the one thing that would break her heart! We had a lesson with her that evening with that woman who converted that we met on p-day it was really good. Gabrielle brought out a few hang ups but I think we cleared them up! She has more faith then I would. I would like to think I would follow the promptings of the spirit if you guys didn't support me but to be honest I don't think I would. Tara calls us that night and committed to going to the Mission Home Fireside which is on Sunday so that was awesome. And I committed to doing the LOTOJA 2012! So tell Kels to get ready! Tell her I am organizing a team from here in NC and that she is our team captain and that we will do it on a tandem in 2013!

I think I just used to preach at district meeting but now I feel like I pull more from the spirit of the other Elders and they have been so much better! We had a lesson with Kole afterwards it was way good, he was like I don't want to commit to doing this half heartily, I want this to change my life and want it to stick, it was neat, he is 19 years old and is taking this so seriously! Who else does that! Elder Miller is the man he has been trying so hard this week. This transfer I think he is nervous that in 6 weeks he will be training, so it is neat to see him trying with all that he has! He gets out of bed by himself, I don't even have to jump from my bed to his bed! We saw that girl who doesn't believe in God today and talked to her for awhile it was crazy--the plan of the Lord!!!!

We were supposed to have dinner with Blake but he was a no show it is sad I want him to receive the blessings his Father in Heaven want to give him, but I am not sure what I am supposed to do. Then we had dinner with our neighbors, these girls and this guy, they were asking so many questions it was cool I think if missionaries knock on their door in the future they would listen it is crazy though like they invited us it was way nice of them!
We saw this kid, Tucker on campus, he lives with a few members and is a way nice kid and is coming to church when one of the kids speak! Then, that girl that doesn't believe in God asked us to come and be on her tv show and be interviewed it is called Late Night Pit Talk! And idk they didn't ask anything about the church but it was still good publicity I suppose! Elder Miller was funny. Then a member chased us down and invited us to lunch with her which was all part of the Lords plan because in the cafeteria we ran into this girl named Amie who has met with missionaries in highpoint but can't get baptized because of her parents and she wanted to come to church it was incredible. There is this girl Abby who is on a campus ministry who we had a deep talk with and she is interested it will be funny to see where this goes with her!

But she got there and was scared and stood outside for like an hour during sacrament meeting and it was crazy so she decided to flip a coin, Heads she would go in and tails she would wait for 15 min and then go back! Of course the Lord threw that coin down on heads! She came and went to church and loved it in Relief Society, they basically taught the Restoration and like she went to ward choir after church and then we invited her to the Mission home Fireside and she said she would love to come! So we went and had the best homemade pizza and then went to the Mission Home Fireside! That she had never heard a testimony vocally before and that was so neat to be apart of! Today was a miracle I love this gospel this work and you are right Mom, when we forget about ourselves and serve others we are the most happy thanks so much for teaching me that! I love this work my family and friends and the ward and people who I serve. I love the most the relationship I am building with my Savior!

HAPPY LABOR DAY,
So transfers happened and I am staying! I hope you have a great week this week! I love you all and this GOSPEL is it!
MON-So we went and played volleyball with some of the members in the sand. There is a girl in the ward named Kelsi who spells her name just like Kelsi, and she is from Kuna. President Cotterell called that evening, that is when the stress began this week. The zone leaders had said that we were being tempted above our handlings! But I told President that I felt that the Lord trusts us and asked if he trusted us, it turned out to be an okay conversation. There is a girl in our ward, her name is Kaleea Ohiu she is the number one recruit out of Alta High and she is a Tar Heel! Coach Anson Dorrance is a member of the CHURCH, he has had only like 36 losses in the 32 years! That is a big deal! He coached Mia Ham or however it is spelled! But we went to their house and got the info on their son he is a sophomore I believe, but they told us about Kalieea!
TUES-KRISPY KREME oh wow........enough said! They just built one here in Chapel Hill! We contacted this old guy, whose brother is a Mormon, who was like, I really need to read that book my brother sent me that has been sitting on my shelf for 5 years, huh! And we were like yeah and set it up to talk to him about it, it was awesome! So many cool members in the ward! It is a challenge being here cause I wanna be friends with all of them but I also am a missionary so it really doesn't work out, but some day maybe. Gabrielle is from SLC and is incredible, the Lord loves her so much and has prepared her. Two of her friends flew in with out her knowing and surprised her, so we had a real spiritual lesson with them here this week! It is just hard to join the church at this age, yes you are independent but not really, it is hard. Just trust in the spirit of conversion! Then we went out with Doc Riverside and he is the man and had some pizza and taught a good lesson to a local member!
WED-We had a great district meeting, it was on revelation through Church attendance and the Durham 3rd Ward Chapel is incredible and it was super spiritual! We taught Cole afterwards, he is the man! He has a girlfriend that is a member. He is a very easy going kid but when we started talking about the Restoration, like it was weird how serious he got, he was feeling the spirit! We went and worked on the Farm with a member she has a friend who we have taught he is there in the picture his name is Matt! I wanna work on Grandpas farm and attend BYU-I! Who knows but it was so much fun! And then we got back that night and our neighbors invited us on a double date but we politely declined!
THURS-We taught Gabrielle, had an incredible lesson, the spirit is always so strong. Bro Nichols the institute director sat in and it was way cool and spiritual and it just blew my mind! We had an amazing opening social for institute and yeah I love this gospel.
FRI-HAPPY B-DAY DRAKE!!! We had a lesson with Cole it was awesome he is the man he plays hockey for the club team! We went over to campus to contact and there was 500 beautiful girls pledging for a sorority! We screamed GIRLS POOP (thanks for that one Bro Krupa) and ran as fast as we could to our members dorm to seek refuge! He said that he was talking to a girl and she said to join one of the things that you must do to join is steel an elders name tag! Messed up I know! We then met this guy named Peter who loves the Mormons we set him up with the elders in his ward!
SAT-HAPPY B-DAY MISS J!!!! Krispy Kreme again I am saving up for that place. We went over to this families home, he is a professor at Byu but flys home every weekend we had some chicken salad that was to die for! We contacted this girl from So. Cal who was like, is your guys prophet still the guy who can wiggle his ears! I was like YEAH! We laughed so hard, she dated a Mormon, we gave her a copy of the Book of Mormon and are suppose to teach her! We talked all over Saturday and I was so tired it was 6 o'clock and we headed over to this couple, Sam and Abe, I remember praying in my heart that they would be there that this long walk wasn't wasted. We got lost went the wrong way and ran into the zone leaders and yeah it was crazy they picked us up and gave us a ride there, we walked to Sam and Abe's and I saw them sitting on the couch but they ran and hid and didn't answer. Walking down the stairs back to the zone leaders car I was upset, but I realized he answered my prayers I prayed they would be there and they were there. But we walked around the building and I saw the zone leaders walk into this Asian families home and the spirit was so strong so me and Elder Miller went contacting. We tact up LDS pass along cards on this apartment complex bulletin board! The zone leaders came back and caught us in the act and said they invited the family to church and they committed! CRAZY I KNEW WHY we were suppose to be there! TARA called us SHE IS ALIVE!!! I will keep you posted there.
SUN-Fast and testimony meeting was great, after church Gabrielle said, I love it all, I wanted to bear my testimony but didn't know if I could. So a few weeks ago we went to Dukes campus and we met that family Kevin remember! Well we were terrible missionaries and didn't get his number or anything or last name and they didn't come to church it was rough! We were going out with the MAN the D3 EQP and like we felt we needed to go to Dukes campus and we prayed Kevin would be there we didn't know how or why, and we pull up and there is 500 kids all messing around and Kevin crosses the street, Elder Miller and I get out and chase him down he was so glad to see us he was home sick and it was incredible! That is what the gospel is all about I love it!!! THIS IS IT THE ONE AND THE ONLY ONE TRUE CHURCH, IT IS MY TESTIMONY!!!

So transfers happened and I am staying! I hope you have a great week this week! I love you all and this GOSPEL is it!
MON-So we went and played volleyball with some of the members in the sand. There is a girl in the ward named Kelsi who spells her name just like Kelsi, and she is from Kuna. President Cotterell called that evening, that is when the stress began this week. The zone leaders had said that we were being tempted above our handlings! But I told President that I felt that the Lord trusts us and asked if he trusted us, it turned out to be an okay conversation. There is a girl in our ward, her name is Kaleea Ohiu she is the number one recruit out of Alta High and she is a Tar Heel! Coach Anson Dorrance is a member of the CHURCH, he has had only like 36 losses in the 32 years! That is a big deal! He coached Mia Ham or however it is spelled! But we went to their house and got the info on their son he is a sophomore I believe, but they told us about Kalieea!
TUES-KRISPY KREME oh wow........enough said! They just built one here in Chapel Hill! We contacted this old guy, whose brother is a Mormon, who was like, I really need to read that book my brother sent me that has been sitting on my shelf for 5 years, huh! And we were like yeah and set it up to talk to him about it, it was awesome! So many cool members in the ward! It is a challenge being here cause I wanna be friends with all of them but I also am a missionary so it really doesn't work out, but some day maybe.
